Owen’s Book Review – Toro! Toro! by Michael Morpurgo

This book is written by Michael Morpurgo and it is called Toro! Toro! It is one of my favourite books I have ever read on my own. The story is set in Spain, and it is about a man (Antonito) telling his grandson a story about when he was a little boy. He had a sister and he had a pet bull. He runs away with his horse and his bull, called Paco.

There is war going on at the same time as all of the story. Antonito ends up losing his bull and was looking for him. His family all die, except for his sister, because the solderis blow their farm up. His sister only escaped because she was coming to see where Antonito was.

It is a happy and a sad story because lots of people die but lots of Antonito’s friends stay alive and the bull becomes a warrior of the forest who is a legend who scares hunters and soldiers away from Spain.

My favourite part is when the bull becomes a legend. I like Michael Morpurgo’s books because he has a great talent for writing and makes sure that the reader can understand every single word that he writes. He manages to make characters feel real and his stories are always exciting.
